Hola! How is everyone coping with the new decade so far? It is the end of another week…So its time for new group of winners for this week!
Location: Pastaria Abate
I ordered Bolognese Taglierini ($14.80). Texture is somewhat different from what I’m used to having, maybe because it’s made of egg pasta? Its still enjoyable though, and had enough sauce (and meat!) to go around so it’s good. It was quiet on a Saturday afternoon, only a few tables were occupied and they had a nice display of plates. Good place to enjoy a relaxed weekend lunch.
P.S. there’s no service charge, you have to collect your own pasta from the counter though
Location: NKS Restaurant Indian Muslim Food
Colourful plate of Nasi Briyani Mutton, love this type of thick, rich and tasty curry. The grains emit a strong aromatic moisture that comfort my nostril so much and it was a satisfying portion under the chilling wind. Had my lunch for $5, pretty reasonable.
Location: Kumoya Singapore
We went on the first day and queued for 1.5h. Much expected though from such a cute character cafe with little plushies and familiar songs from the show, the ambience of the cafe is definitely great! Staffs were really nice and food didn’t take long to serve~ I think the food tasted pretty decent, though you may be taken aback by the blue cream sauce, it actually taste normal! The waffles & drinks are really suited for a sweet tooth like me everything’s great and definitely worth the visit. The only thing that might throw you off is probably the price…not that affordable for students like me.
Hidden tucked away in a corner of Beach Road, lies this little eatery known as Puri-Puri. When you first enter the shop, you will find peculiar wooden furnitures that deck the dining area, giving it a very homey feel. Everything was self-service, from the ordering to the collection, and the complimentary soup seaweed soup. The dishes were quite affordable (for the size!) and the meats were all SOOOO TENDERR. The portions were actually quite sizeable so you have need not worry about it being sufficient enough (since most donburi portions are generally pretty small). I loved the pickled radish that came with the dish, it was quite a refreshing touch to compliment with the meat, that was quite plentiful. The curry was so good, its consistency was thick, sweet but more towards the savoury side. It complimented the meat and rice well and the flavours came together perfectly. I highly recommend this place if you have small groups of friends as the place is generally not that big.
Location: Firebake – Woodfired Bakehouse Restaurant
Favourite Prawn Capellini in town. Prawn perfectly match with the garlicky flavour!! Must-try dish!! The bread board is based on what they baked daily so might be slightly different each time. Dip into olive oil and or put some butter and see it melting on your gorgeous sour dough. Perfect way to start a day!!
Location: Chunky Lobsters
I enjoyed the lobster chunks in this roll. It tasted sweet and nice. Not too tough. However the soup was slightly salty. It’s a budget alternative for lobster roll and pretty decent!
Do try the… Shrimp tempura, Salmon Croquette, Grilled Eel, Salmon Belly, Sweet Shrimp Gunkan, Triple Salmon, Salmon/Broiled and Belly Salmon with Cheese Red Shrimp.
Do not order… Fresh Abalone Cold Chawamushi
Location: Carpenter & Cook
Love the ambience of this place. Nostalgic vintage decors. And pastries are yummy! Always a place I’ll choose to go for my after dinner desserts.
Location: Wok Palace
We had a lovely feast Wok Palace! Pictures don’t lie…chewy Roast Pork with an awesome crackling, juicy pan seared Wagyu Beef with Red Wine Sauce, finger lickin’ Kurobuta Pork Ribs with Honey Sauce, savoury Fried Rice with Dried Scallops and Shrimps full of ‘wok hei’ are some of our favourite and so many more other dishes we want to try! Into the New Year with full bellies and even fuller hearts!
Location: 107 Simei Street 1, Singapore 520107
Pork Chop with Mushroom Sauce. Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce . Recommended by my sister. Tasted average to me though. The pork was marinated unlike the chicken chop. Coleslaw was not the best, I still prefer Tenderbest’s taste.
