If you are in the East, this is probably a good spot for you if you feel like getting brunch! Simple but done right! I’ve never had avocado toast with furikake before and the Aussie purists in me was screaming but the combination was on point!! Bacon that came with the French toast was just how I like it crispy edges but offers a nice chew in the middle! The actual french toast however was nothing to really scream about and I feel that the egg flavour could have been a little more pronounced. If you have a sweet tooth, definitely check out their cakes too! Creamy, fluffy and light! Really well done! If I ever find myself in the east again, this is where I would consider going! Parking may be a little hard to get so I suggest taking public transportation.

Hei Kim; one of the best cafe I’ve been to that serves really comforting food. They froth the milk just the way I liked it and to those who knows me, apart from good food; the atmosphere and ambience matters a lot to me as well and this cafe really met all my standards. I realised that the cafe serves a range of unconventional food such as; beetroot pancakes with avocado yogurt sauce & toast with avocado, seaweed and Japanese style eggs.
Coffee and matcha was good, latte art was perfect (to my liking), really aromatic & not too sweet. Tried their chai latte as well and the chai isn’t too strong. The store plays a lot of old school kind of music and it really fits their theme well. Their cake of the day was “holiday cake”, a cake originated from Russia and made with layers of shortbread, custard, fillings, and meringue. The cake has a pretty good layer of meringue that’s done up well. Custard was thick but not diabetic sweet, the fillings was just nice and the short bread bottom layer was GREAT however, please only order if you are sharing as the “dessert” can be overwhelmingly sweet and a piece of that is too much.
I’m so glad I found this cafe and I’ll come back JUST for the matcha latte LOL. . . honestly very amazed that I went to ask the owner if she went for barista classes and which level is she at but guess what.. SHE SELF TAUGHT HERSELF… OMG here I am trying my best to make the froth and do latte art but it still look like crap.

Had their pizza and lamb which was really good. The pizza crust was perfect and generous in fillings. The lamb was juicy and tender. We had their chocolate salted egg lava cake which was kinda unique too!

If you like Mediterranean food you must try this restaurant. The appetizer is slightly over price. But for their mains, I will say it is value for money, especially the oyster king, masala grill eggplant. The patties roufu is also good! But it’s good to share all the dishes. Last but no least, tiramisu is the best that i ever had before.
Location: Pistachio Middle Eastern & Mediterranean Grill
*This review is based on their old restaurant which was at Zhongshan Mall on Balestier Road. They have since moved to Wheelock Place!* I always tell my friends that if they like food cooked with plenty of spices, they have to try Mediterranean food. The place I will always recommend is Pistachio. For starters, you have to try their Pita Bread, which comes in huge (as big as your table) along with hummus to go along. It’s crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, dip it in the hummus for a nutty kick!
Another item that can’t go wrong at a Mediterranean restaurant are the kebabs! Grilled to perfection and served with sides of sauces/chutneys, it will definitely delight your taste-buds! Finally, do remember to try their chef specialty menu like the Egyptian Fish Singary which is boneless fish grilled with shredded carrots, onions, prawns, and spices! The fish was fresh and the toppings made it very much sweeter while the spices give it a good savoury kick.
The price is on a higher side (the menu don’t state them either), but with the food quality it is worth every penny for me! If you’ve never tried Mediterranean food, or if you’re a huge fan of one, I highly recommend Pistachio! Just remember to bring along some friends or family because the portions come in large, and you definitely want to try more than just a few dishes!

Cha-Nabe Pork Shabu Tom Yum $14.90 come with mash potato. And the Berry Berry Cake is always my favourite! For the rice you can have a choice of udon or Japanese rice inside the broth. I really recommend you to try their broth. It was thick & flavourful and it complemented the udon really well.
