Excited for the weekends!? Everyone still posting actively? Let’s find out who are the winners that did well this week!
Location: Lao Huo Tang
Craving for hot soup? Salted Vegetables Duck Soup is a nice choice to warm you up. Very good combination soup for someone who doesn’t like pork like me. It’s kids friendly restaurant. They enjoyed this restaurant a lot.
Location: Telok Blangah Crescent Block 11 Market And Food Centre
Finally tried the Lor Mee here. It didn’t seem like almost 9 months from their opening because I remember I kept telling my friends that there are so many stalls here selling fishball noodles and there’s not a single stall selling Lor Mee!!! Greeted by the very friendly and humorous stall owner cum cook, I saw an old lady in the stall too. I presumed that must be the cook’s mum. Wow, must be “Ah Ma’s Lor Mee” My friend and I had the Traditional Lor Mee. The ingredients are really fresh and generous portion. The fried fish is crispy and fragrant. No fishy taste. The batter is not dark like it’s done in used oil. The sliced pork belly is thinly sliced but still quite thick. So it’s almost double the width of what some places might serve. Also 2 pieces of Ngoh Hiang Balls, very satisfying. And not forgetting half a braised egg. Not bad for $3.50. I added a lot of chopped garlic and vinegar. That’s what I like in my Lor Mee! Will definitely come back to try the Jumbo Lor Mee on days that I feel very hungry, as it looks like an all-in with additional dumplings and Ngor Hiang!
Location: Sapporo Shirakaba Sansou Ramen
Located at Hokkaido Marche, we tried the Special Miso Aburi Ramen and Shoyu Char Siew Ramen. Food-wise, the Miso is better than Shoyu, in my opinion, but to be fair the egg and char siew is not bad. The Aburi ramen also has corn with butter so that makes it a little more “special”‘. My friend who had the shoyu said that it was a bit too oily for her, and the taste was a bit lacking compared to the Miso.
Location: Traditional Family Cuisine
Looking for good Padang then this is up your alley. This stall dishes out the best Beef Rendang In town! Here the beef has been fried together with various herbs and spices, and coconut milk and left in the wok to simmer for hours to allow the beef to soak in the fragrant mix and the outcome of which you’ll get an incredible depth of flavor and tenderness that begs to be savoured with pleasure! The sides add dimension to the food and overall I would rate this a 4 out of 5. So what are you waiting for?
Location: Standing Sushi Bar
I came here for a quick snack before heading home after a wedding dinner at the nearby Carlton hotel. Standing sushi bar is known for its half-price deals and fresh sushi, attracting a lot of students from nearby universities or the office crowd in the area. The sashimi is fresh with a reasonable size for its price, while the sushi was smaller in sizes with lesser rice, a good option for those managing their diet. Service was prompt and good, the service staff was very attentive and food was also served quite fast too. I will head back again for a sashimi fix next time!
Having dinner here tonight and I tried the garlic pork loin don. Wow, it’s out of my expectation. ’’Delicious’’ but the curry pork normal.
Location: nomVnom Bistro
Tried the Shacha Udon and loved it!! Must try the burger here as it is the QQ cheesy which comes as a set with passion fruit tea and side salad or just have it ala carte. Tried their vegan macarons too and I love how it isn’t very sweet unlike typical macarons but still had the texture of typical ones! Overall a wonderful meal with a great view!
Location: Brewerkz Indoor Stadium
Brewerkz is known to be a great chill out spot with tasty bar bites and awesome brews. Had my team event there last week and we were still going for their nachos and truffle fries after our buffet lunch! Forgot the beer we chose but us thirsty hippos downed a couple of towers real quick!
Location: Spice World Hot Pot 香天下火锅
Due to a promotion we went to try out Spice World Hot Pot. The pork belly balls are nice! And the interesting thing part is you really get a giant straw to drink from the pot. But not when its boiling hot of course! Overall, the food was average. And there’s not many people eating at 2pm!
Location: The good food company
Chimney – the spotlight of the day!
Chimney King $8.90 – Classic walnut chimney cake topped with homemade vanilla ice cream, fudge brownie chunks, nuts, salted caramel and chocolate drizzle.
Chimney Queen $7.90 – Homemade chocolate ice cream (chocolate is rich and smooth!) with homemade ‘rafflello’ (unfortunately not a coconut fans here) and orange sauce topping.
